Royal Cromer stands some 320 feet above the sandy beaches of north Norfolk, between the seaside towns of Cromer and Overstrand, and jutting out towards the North Sea. It is clifftop golf with spectacular views and all the features of a coastal course: sandy hills, grassy valleys and plenty of gorse and bracken.
The course was originally laid out by Old Tom Morris and has been refined over the years by some of the great names in golf course design. Today it is widely regarded as one of Norfolk’s finest courses. The surrounding area is known as Poppyland, named by the Victorian writer Clement Scott for the poppies that grow here.
Royal Cromer is one of the highlights of our Norfolk Golf Coast tour, alongside Hunstanton, King’s Lynn and Sheringham.
Course: 18-hole clifftop. Address: 145 Overstrand Road, Cromer, Norfolk NR27 0JH
