Berkhamsted is a wonderfully natural course where golf meets nature, laid out across heath and woodland on the common above the town. It is famous for having no bunkers at all, because there were none in the natural terrain of this part of Hertfordshire, so the challenge comes from heather, gorse, trees and the clever use of the land.
At 6,683 yards and par 71, it is a fine test within an hour of central London. Berkhamsted features on our West Herts Golf Tour.
Course: 18-hole heathland. Address: The Common, Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire HP4 2QB
