Prestbury is a Harry Colt classic in the Cheshire countryside, 15 miles south of Manchester, and is regularly ranked among England’s top 100 courses. Founded in 1920, it makes the most of dramatic changes in elevation, just as Colt intended, working with the natural curves of the land.
The sandy subsoil means the course drains exceptionally well and hardly ever closes after heavy rain. It has hosted the English Seniors Championship and Open Championship Regional Qualifying, and it celebrated its centenary in 2020.
The village of Prestbury and nearby Alderley Edge are among the most desirable in the country, with Manchester Airport, the M6 and the Peak District all close by. Prestbury features on our Cheshire Classics tour alongside Cavendish.
Course: 18-hole parkland. Address: Macclesfield Road, Prestbury, Cheshire SK10 4BJ
