A trail of six historic links along the Atlantic coast of Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
The Southwest Premier Links tour brings together six of England’s finest seaside courses, strung along the rugged north coast of the South West. Expect championship links laid out among towering dunes, sweeping ocean views and more than 150 years of golfing history, all at green fees that are far kinder than the courses’ reputations suggest. If you love traditional links golf, with firm turf, natural hazards and the Atlantic wind as your constant companion, this is a trip to remember.

The Courses
Burnham & Berrow Golf Club, Somerset
Your journey begins on the Somerset coast at Burnham & Berrow, a links famed for its rolling fairways, deep bunkers and lightning-fast greens. When the wind blows it becomes a real test of strategy and shot-making, which is why it has long been a favourite venue for championship events.
Royal North Devon Golf Club, Westward Ho!
Founded in 1864, Royal North Devon is the oldest golf course in England still played on its original fairways. Set on the open expanse of the Westward Ho! Burrows, it is links golf at its most natural, with firm, fast fairways and hazards shaped by nature rather than an architect. Playing here is a step back into the history of the game.
Saunton Golf Club, North Devon
Saunton’s two links, the East and the West, wind through the dunes of Braunton Burrows, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The East Course is regularly ranked among the world’s top 100, while the shorter West Course offers a different but equally rewarding links challenge. Many golfers rate Saunton as the highlight of any trip to the South West.
St Enodoc Golf Club, Cornwall
Designed by James Braid, St Enodoc is one of the most memorable courses in England. Its Church Course rolls through dramatic dunes above the Camel Estuary, with fast greens, the giant “Himalayas” dune and the little church of St Enodoc nestled in the middle of the links. The Holywell Course is a more relaxed option, ideal for a second round or mixed abilities.
Trevose Golf & Country Club, Cornwall
On Cornwall’s north coast near Padstow, Trevose’s Championship Course was designed by Harry Colt and looks out over the golden sands of Constantine Bay. Varied terrain, testing bunkers and coastal winds call for careful shot-making, and the club also has shorter courses and practice facilities.
Perranporth Golf Club, Cornwall
Perched on the Cornish cliffs, Perranporth is a rugged and scenic links with undulating fairways, natural dunes and panoramic ocean views. Elevation changes and the coastal breeze make every round different, and the views alone are worth the trip.
