Founded in 1887, Cleveland Golf Club at Redcar is Yorkshire’s only true links. It sits on the coast at the mouth of the Tees, and for much of its history it was overshadowed by a vast steelworks next door. Since the steelworks closed, this classic links has finally been getting the attention it deserves.
Expect firm, fast turf, strategic bunkering and natural contours, with the wind off the North Sea deciding how the course plays on any given day. It rewards a low ball flight and a good imagination around the greens.
Cleveland is just a few minutes from Seaton Carew and Hartlepool, so it fits perfectly into a short break on the Tees Valley coast, with Rockliffe Hall a natural base. Our Tees Valley Links Tour brings them all together.
Course: 18-hole links. Address: Majuba Road, Redcar TS10 5BJ
